Privacy Policy

Scope
This Policy explains Comic Circuit’s handling of personal information when you visit the site, create an account, manage a collection, use community or messaging features, submit a report, or contact us. It does not govern third-party websites or services linked from Comic Circuit.
Information collected
We collect account identifiers, email address, authentication status, settings, profile details, collection records, ownership and reading information, ratings and reviews, searches and comic views, lists and reading orders, posts and uploaded images, replies, follows, blocks and mutes, reports, moderation and copyright records, direct messages, support requests, and security and operational logs. Google or another sign-in provider may supply a name, email address, provider identifier, and profile image. Cloudflare may process IP address, device, request, security, and CAPTCHA information. We do not intentionally collect payment-card information during the closed beta.
How information is used
We use information to authenticate users; provide and separate member accounts and collections; operate profiles, social features, messages, exports, recommendations, and reading tools; remember requested settings; detect fraud and abuse; enforce rules; investigate reports; respond to copyright and privacy requests; maintain backups; measure and improve reliability; and comply with law. We do not use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
Cookies and similar technology
Comic Circuit and Supabase use essential cookies or comparable browser storage to maintain authentication, protect sessions, and remember limited device-local workflow state. Cloudflare Turnstile uses security signals to distinguish legitimate activity from abuse. Session storage may prevent the same device from repeatedly starting a synchronization during one browser session. We do not currently use cross-site advertising cookies.
Visibility and member communications
Your username, display name, avatar, bio, public posts, replies, public reading orders, and public lists may be visible to other members or visitors according to their settings. Your email address is not displayed to other members. Collection and profile visibility follow the controls shown in the service. Direct messages are visible to participants and may be accessed when reasonably necessary to investigate reports, protect users, maintain the service, or comply with law; they are not end-to-end encrypted.
Service providers and disclosures
Cloudflare provides hosting, database, file storage, network security, and Turnstile services. Supabase provides authentication and authentication email infrastructure. Google supports optional Google sign-in. Sentry receives scrubbed error and performance information; Comic Circuit removes user identity and request cookies, headers, and submitted request data from Sentry events before sending them. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, authorities, or transaction counterparties when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, claims, financing, reorganization, or a transfer of the service. Providers process information under their own terms and security practices.
Catalog sources and outbound links
Catalog records may identify Grand Comics Database and Open Library as evidence sources. Automated catalog requests are made by Comic Circuit’s servers rather than on a member’s behalf. If you follow an external source or retailer link, that destination may receive your IP address and ordinary browser information and will apply its own privacy policy.
Sale, targeted advertising, and profiling
Comic Circuit does not sell personal data for money, process it for third-party targeted advertising, or use it to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. If those practices change, we will update this Policy and provide legally required notices and choices before beginning them.
Retention
Account and collection data is retained while an account is active and then deleted or deidentified when no longer reasonably needed. Authentication cookies generally last only for the configured session period. Deleted posts and images are removed from active systems, but limited copies may remain temporarily in encrypted backups, caches, or security logs until overwritten. Reports, moderation actions, copyright records, consent records, and security logs may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, disputes, repeat-infringer administration, or legal compliance. We will establish and document exact operational retention schedules before public launch.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may change profile and collection visibility, control message permissions, mute or block members, export account data, delete individual content, and request account deletion through Account Settings. Depending on your location and applicable law, you may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, deletion, portability, or an appeal of a denied request, and may opt out of covered sale, targeted advertising, or significant-decision profiling if any begins. We will authenticate requests and normally respond within 45 days when that period is required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Requests and appeals
Account Settings is the primary secure method for export and deletion. Until a dedicated privacy email address is published, signed-in members may submit a privacy request through the account controls. If a request is denied, reply through the same channel with “Privacy Appeal” and explain why the decision should be reconsidered. A denied Texas appeal will include information about contacting the Texas Attorney General when required.
Security and incidents
Comic Circuit uses authenticated access, access controls, rate limits, bot protection, monitoring, backups, and provider security features. Access is limited according to operational need. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password, protect email access, and report suspected compromise promptly.
International processing
Comic Circuit and its providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Those locations may have different privacy protections from your home jurisdiction. The closed beta is presently intended for U.S. adults; availability elsewhere does not represent that the service is designed for every jurisdiction.
Adults-only beta
The current beta is for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. An account identified as belonging to someone under 18 may be restricted and reviewed for deletion. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should use the available account or reporting controls.
Changes and operator information
Material changes will be presented through the product or another reasonable method. The operator’s legal identity, postal address, and dedicated privacy email will be added before the service leaves closed beta. Until then, use the privacy and data controls in Account Settings.
